About FireBird
Summer 2008 a few Bournmouth, Dorset musicians decided to look at the possibilities of a slightly different function band. After a month or so of deliberation we had the answer: FireBird!
The songs
We'd all been in function bands before and were jaded with the 'party standards' that inevitably got played to death, so the repertoire was the first consideration, something lively, dancey and different. In fact, classic pop and rock songs that we remember fondly.
The line-up
Vocals, mainly female lead with a few male songs plus harmony - clean and clear.
Keyboard, synth plus genuine Hammond Organ for the authentic feel and sound.
Guitar, all styles and sounds, not just one as in so many other bands.
Bass guitar, big solid sound with sensitivity.
Percussion, all levels and styles but with tight drive.
The equipment
We only use tried and tested professional equipment; not cheap but reliable. It also sounds better.
PA system - mainly RCF up to 1200 watts inc sub if needed with Shure mics and effects.
Guitars - Gibson, Musicman and Fender. Amplification; Mesa, Laney, Marshal and Line6 as required.
Bass guitar - Fender. Amplification; Hartke stack. Rowland Combo
Keyboards - Hammond Organ, Leslie Cabinet, Roland Synth plus amps.
Drums - DW kit up to 9 drums plus Paiste, Sabian and Zildjien cymbals.
Lighting rig - LED floor floods, PAR36 pin spots, assorted spots, Gobo, Strobe, Smoke, as required.
